The Trailer For New Horror Film ‘Truth Or Dare’ Is Pretty F****d Up
Most of us like a good horror flick every now and again, getting a weird kick out of being absolutely terrified. But Blumhouse’s latest film looks like it could well be particularly hard work, judging from the twisted trailer that’s just been released.
You’ll have possibly come across production company Blumhouse for its work on recent Oscar winner Get Out – as well as cult horror favourites like Insidious, Paranormal Activity, Split and The Purge: Anarchy.
The company’s latest work, which is due for release this Easter, is a supernatural horror directed by Jeff Wadlow. Wadlow also wrote the film alongside Michael Reisz, Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach.
Starring Pretty Little Liars’ Lucy Hale and Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey, the film follows a bunch of college students who are haunted by spirits after playing a supernatural version of classic game Truth or Dare.
“Tell the truth or you die,” Lucy Hale’s character says in the trailer. “Do the dare or you die.”
And the deaths aren’t the straightforward, heart-attack-and-drop-dead kind, but the twisted how-the-hell-did-they-think-of-this kind – like stabbing yourself in the forehead with a pen, before bashing your head into the wall, or breaking your neck on the side of a pool table or choking your lover just as they’re about to climax.
There’s also a scene in the trailer when one of Olivia’s pals has to break her hand with a hammer. Grim.
Once the game starts, players aren’t allowed to stop. The only guaranteed method to survive is to pass on the game to someone else, meaning that the students get stuck in a persistent trial of life and death.
The trailer alone makes your skin crawl, so God knows how fucked up the actual film is going to be. Judging from initial reactions on social media, though, this one looks likely to be yet another hit for Blumhouse.
